Kids Paint Craft Workshop Summer Camp July 2016

Kids Paint Craft Workshop – a midday Art Camp for children: July 11th – July 15th. Workshops are from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Discounted price of $125 for all 5 days, or $28 per day. Classes are open to ages 2-17. Children ages 2-5 must be accompanied by an adult. Attendees will be divided into 3 age groups. Projects will be age appropriate. All workshops will be held at I Paint Today in Chelmsford, MA. Each class will focus on a media, or style of art creation directed by an instructor. Have you ever wanted your child to experience the freedom of creation while still learning with and alongside professional artists? Now it’s possible with these workshops. Attendees can enjoy an open format class geared for his or her age with all of the materials provided. I Paint Today will provide juice/bottled water, snacks, music and all the tools and materials needed to foster the best creative atmosphere. Introduction to Acrylic Landscape Painting 6 Week Acrylic Painting Course for Kids starts January 4th This introductory course covers basic painting techniques with an emphasis on contemporary applications of the acrylic paint medium with a focus towards younger minds. The objective of this course is to provide young art students with the skills necessary to create their own original paintings by using knowledge of pictorial composition and knowledge of materials, tools and techniques used in acrylic painting. This 6 class course provides the basics through an engaging introduction to acrylic painting. Topics include the use of composition, a landscape color palette, texture, form and value through landscape painting as well as understanding various paint brushes, their uses and proper care. By the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding of these concepts and some of the basic tools used to accomplish their painting goals. Course Details: Kids and Teens ages 7 – 17 Monday Afternoons from 3:45 pm – 5:00 pm starting January 4th. Painting Tips and Tricks: The 3 COLOR RULE makes Painting Easy! YEAH!

AN EXTREMELY EASY STAGE I ACRYLIC PAINTING: APPLYING COLOR USING THE BASIC 3 COLOR RULE Oh no! My stark white canvas is scary. How do I get rid of the white? How do I apply color? Where do I start? EEK! These are fears I struggled with when I first started painting and a fears I see so many of my students struggle with now. Understanding the 3 Color Rule and some basic blending techniques will help relax your mind. First of all, it always helps to create a composition before you even pull out your canvas. See my blog on Creating an Original Composition to help you with that step. But for this blog, let’s say we have a basic composition. The composition we will use here is the “The Old West Desert Cactus.” You can find this and many other paintings on my Gallery Page . We’re looking at the blank white canvas. How do we know where to start? First things first… Preparation: Set up your Palette and get a large flat synthetic brush. I used a 2 inch Flat Taklon Brush. Paint Needed: I’m using Student Paints made by Dick Blick Art Materials. They are great for practice painting. Black – just choose one.. Mars, Ivory etc.. It doesn’t make a difference. Chose the black that you happen to have. Bright Red – Yours might have Crimson or Rose. You want a good red color with very little orange in it. If you’re not sure, mix a tiny amount of it with white and see if you get a true pink color. If it has...
